Welcome to the CSE! The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) has officially changed its name and re-branded to the Center for Student Entrepreneurship (CSE).

The intention of the name change is to reflect the center’s role in serving entrepreneurs at all the stages in building a business. The CSE is here to serve students of all degree levels, including undergraduate, graduate, and PhD candidates, as well as faculty, staff, alumni, and the Texas State community.

“The name change reflects who we are and, more importantly, who we serve,” director of the CSE Quinn Valentine said. Entrepreneurship is not only about creating the next big technology company. We wholeheartedly support flower shops, tech businesses, creative ventures, service businesses, and yes, drone startups.

“Our focus is on helping students test their assumptions, put their ideas into action, and learn what it really takes to build a business. The Center for Student Entrepreneurship makes it clear that if you’re a student with an idea and the willingness to work on it, there is a place for you here.”

The CSE works to prepare entrepreneurs and founders to build their ventures through hands-on workshops, mentorships, and more. These events are meant to help entrepreneurs network, gain mentorship, and become ready for successfully running their business in the real-world.

The transition to the Center for Student Entrepreneurship (CSE) has included updated logos, printed materials, and a new website. The existing programs and services provided by the CSE will continue to serve our students and Texas State community, alongside new programs to help our student entrepreneurs grow.

We will continue to host hands-on workshops, markets, and more! The next Workshop Wednesday will be held on September 9th at the CSE Gathering Space, Alkek Library 3rd floor, where speakers will be giving a presentation titled “Marketing yourself and your business - from unknown to unforgettable.” Our next Topic Tuesday will be held on September 8th at STAR Park with a presentation titled “Go to market - game plan” by Rod Keller.

If you’re curious to learn more about our various programs, check out the CSE Catapult on September 28 at the CSE Gathering Space from noon to 1 p.m. Catapult is a monthly Q&A session where members of our programs and campus partners give a short presentation on  the resources they have to offer. Guests are then invited to ask questions about these programs and how to become more involved.

Throughout the year, be sure to be on the lookout for new programming and workshops provided by the CSE.

Mission

The Texas State Center for Student Entrepreneurship (CSE) exists to prepare the next generation of founders to build ventures that matter. We serve students who embody the true spirit of Texas - hardworking, resilient, and driven to turn ideas into action. Through an intentional progression of hands-on programming, mentorship, and real-world experiences, we equip entrepreneurs with the skills, confidence, and support to move their ventures from campus into the regional and state economy, where they create jobs, generate revenue, and strengthen communities. While our primary focus is developing student founders, we also foster entrepreneurship across the broader Texas State and regional communities, strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem throughout Texas.

Vision

To be nationally recognized for developing quality entrepreneurs defined by grit, determination, and execution, by empowering Texas State students to build businesses that create opportunity, strengthen the Texas economy, and inspire the next generation of founders.
